In 2009, Live Music Now and the Musicians Benevolent Fund worked together with an appeal to the public to Adopt-a-Musician.
Our aim was to enhance the lives of musicians - both young and old. Thanks to a generous public response, we are now delivering our first series of concerts.
LMN has 'adopted' gifted young performers to play for retired musicians living in their own homes, who thought they would never experience live music again because of frailty and ill-health.
The daughter of a retired musician for whom we are planning one of the first performances, has written:
"It sounds an absolutely wonderful idea and Mum would really love to be part of it. She is pretty much housebound these days as far as social occasions are concerned and relies totally on radio and television for music, which is her greatest love in life."
