The launch of the aLuMNi in 2007 to celebrate our 30th Anniversary enabled LMN to renew contact with many of the wonderful musicians who have worked with us over the past 30 years. We are always sad to say goodbye to musicians as they reach the leaving age for the scheme. Although we know that this allows us to work with a new cohort of young, gifted musicians, we know that we will miss the talents of those who are leaving, and who have developed their skills to the point that they can work in the most challenging settings and bring the benefits of live music to a wide range of groups in the community.
Thanks to the aLuMNi we are now able to draw on that extensive pool of musicians in a more concerted way, and we are delighted to find that they want to remain part of LMN.
Here are some of the ways in which aLuMNi are already becoming involved:
- Signing up to receive regular information about LMN and spreading the word about the work that our musicians do;
- Offering services as an experienced musician on an audition panel;
- Running a masterclass for LMN musicians - on performance technique or another specialist area;
- Acting as a mentor to a current musician or ensemble - helping to develop presentation or programming skills;
- Supporting our fundraising - running a marathon, holding a concert, performing at an LMN fundraising event.
If you would like to get back in touch with LMN, whether or not you want to get involved actively again, we would love to hear from you and catch up with your news and current career.
