Live Music Now South East New Musicians - Meet Rosie Bergonzi
Tuesday 2nd October 2018 9:30PM
Earlier this year we welcomed some talented and exciting musicians to Live Music Now in the South East.
In the second part of our 'Meet the Musician' series percussionist Rosie Bergonzi talks in her own words about her work and what brought her to join Live Music Now.

My Musical Journey
I came to percussion relatively late, just playing triangle at the back of my school orchestra aged 14. I soon realised I'd found the thing I wanted to do, so I took music at Goldsmiths, University of London.
While there I discovered my love of performance and after graduation I did a master's at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Since graduating I've played with various artists and ensembles including the BBC proms with Chineke! Orchestra, a European tour with the opera Musical Rumpus and festivals with singer Neneh Cherry. In addition to performance I love workshop leading. It was on the Spitalfields traineeship, a year-long course to develop leadership skills that I met Joe Steele.
Why Live Music Now?
Live Music Now is an incredible organisation and it always seemed like the perfect fit for us. I love making music with all audiences, and unless I was able to continue to work with a variety of audiences I think I'd feel bereft. For me music is all about communication so whether I'm in the Barbican or a school hall in Tower Hamlets I love opportunities to interact with everyone.

*A 'Playlist for Life' is a list of songs or pieces of music that make up the soundtrack to your life. Lullabies your mum sang to you. Your first 'slow dance'. Music that reminds you of special holidays or special people. Playlist for Life taps into a recognised phenomenon: personally meaningful music has the ability to improve life for people with dementia, their family and their carers.
