DJ Moyma

Specialising in hip-hop, funk and eclectic sounds.
Winner of the BBC New Talent Award, Moyma has a reputation for delivering and creating high quality work. His eclectic mixture of musical styles is led by Moyma’s interest in a wide range of creative influences and he is an artist that seeks the widest possible range of experiences to draw on when making and djing his music. This quest has led him to performances and tours in China (selected to represent the UK at the international Impulse Dj Conference), Sweden (Tune in Festival), France (Quiksilver Surf Comp) , Holland (Black Soil Festival), London (Cargo), Los Angeles (Low End Theory) San Franciso (The Madrone) Tokyo (Ruby Room). Notable amongst these have been collaborations with Charlie Dark (Attica Blues), DJ Wordy (Chinese DMC Champion 2006/2007) and the internationally acclaimed DJ D-Styles. As a DJ he has also created music and performed on the turntables for two dance-theatre productions. He just embarked on project called ‘The Scratch Pilgrimage’ where he went to different parts of the U.S connecting and Djing with Dstyles (L.A), Mr Henshaw (San Diego) and continued this tour in Japan, Tokyo. He is currently touring with UKs leading MC Juice Aleem (Big Dada Recordings)
When not making his own music, working with other artists or performing, Moyma finds time to teach DJing and visual art through workshops. He has been inspiring and educating young people in schools and youth clubs for the past 5 years. His work has included one to one mentoring, the performance BTEC, Silver & Bronze Arts Award. He has a holistic approach to music education, which not only includes a real professional experience of music culture but also guidance on the business side of the arts.
Madflow has over 10 years experience as a performing artist within the music entertainment industry, both as a solo performer and in collaborations with a range of hip-hop groups. He has also conducted workshops in schools contributing to the development of young people with musical talents.

Yvonne Paterson (flute) and Andrew Robinson (guitar) combine to make “Duende!” An exciting young Scottish duo with flamenco flair, Yvonne and Andrew are both 1st Class Honours graduates who started playing as a duo when they were at school together. After completing their musical studies in London and Glasgow, Yvonne and Andrew were reunited in 2006 and formed “Duende!”
Both Andrew and Yvonne are highly accomplished, award-winning soloists and are very much in demand as orchestral and chamber musicians having worked with several distinguished groups ranging from the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and Scottish Ballet.
“Duende!” perform regularly across the UK giving recitals and educational concerts often as part of the renowned “Live Music Now!” scheme. They have also performed at many prestigious events, most notably for Prince Charles and as a support act for bass guitarist Jack Bruce. The duo’s extensive repertoire spans many genres including classical, contemporary, easy listening, and Latin-American. With such an eclectic repertoire, as well as the ability to arrange music at request, “Duende!” can tailor a programme to suit the mood of any event or occasion.

MESTIZO DUO
Ahmed Dickinson, guitar and Hammadi Rencurrell, percussion.
These young talented Cuban musicians have been thrilling UK audiences since their debut in London earlier this year. They perform a lively and fresh repertoire combining traditional Cuban genres, classical styles and jazz. Both trained in the best music colleges in Cuba and UK, Ahmed and Hammadi are also strong solo and chamber artists in their own right. They frequently collaborate with some of the country’s leading artist such Eduardo Niebla and world famous ballet dancer Carlos Acosta among others. They have performed at the Barbican Centre, the Bolivar Hall, Wilton music Hall. Up- coming performances include several concerts at The Forge and a Tour for the Middle East.

Ahmed Dickinson Cardenas is one of the finest young performers of the Cuban Classical Guitar School. He is a sophisticated virtuoso on his instrument and an ambassador of Cuban culture. Born in Havana, Dickinson Cardenas began playing drums and percussion at age 4, then classical piano and guitar at 9. Graduated from the Superior Institute of Art (Havana) in Guitar for which he was awarded a first-class honours degree, and also graduated a year early. Later he received lessons at the Royal College of Music and in 2006, supported by The Kramer- Chappell Scholarship and the Mad Hatters Club, he undertook studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
For almost a decade Ahmed had the privilege to work closely with the late Cuban guitar composer Jose Antonio (Ñico) Rojas. Over this period Ahmed single-handedly transcribed, learned and performed most of the old master’s unpublished works, enabling access to this cultural legacy for future generations of guitarists.
In the UK he has performed in prestigious venues such as the Wigmore Hall, the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art), St James’ Church Piccadilly and the Bolivar Hall among others. Recent festivals include The London Guitar festival, Bolivar Hall International Guitar Festival, Bath International Guitar Festival, Ards Guitar Festival (Northern Ireland) Hispano-American Guitar Festival (Mexico) and Dublin Guitar Week (Ireland)
Over the last years he has frequently collaborated with many outstanding musicians from various musical spectrum including Eduardo Niebla, Lizzie Ball, Ben Wragg, Luzmira Zerpa, and Laura Mitchell to name a few. In 2008 he performed works by composer Judith Weir, in a series of concert broadcast by the BBC Radio3.
In 2009 Ahmed Dickinson won Best Instrumental Soloist & Best Instrumental Album at Cubadisco 2009, the prestigious Cuban Music Record Industry Awards, for his recording paying homage to the late Ñico Rojas. The same album has been nominated for Best Artist & Best Newcomer in Songlines World Music Magazine, and Best Album & Best Single at the Latin American Music Awards UK.
Ahmed Dickinson is a Concordia Foundation and Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music Now artist.
Recent engagements included solo recitals at Kings Place, The Sage in Gateshead, The London Guitar Festival and the Bath International Guitar Festival, organized by the International Guitar Foundation
Hammadi Rencurrell Valdes
Born in Havana, Cuba, Hammadi Rencurrell discovered his passion for percussion in his early teens. He joined several musical groups, travelling throughout the world.
A dynamic percussionist and music teacher, through his career Hammadi has been involved in the production of albums such as “Irakere 30 años" (Irakere), and Chucho Valdés’ “New Conceptions”, which received the “Grammy” Award.
His talents are recognized in theatre productions like the Carlos Acosta show “Tocororo, a Cuban Tale” which broke all box office records at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in 2003 and was nominated for an Olivier award and has since appeared in major venues and festivals in Italy, Turkey, Hong Kong and Austria.
As well as teaching at the “Upper Institute of Art” in Havana Hammadi has been responsible for organising and delivering workshops in different venues like the Roundhouse Theatre in London, the University Paris-8,the University of Versailles and the University of Cuenca (Ecuador) from which he received a diploma by the Symphony Orchestra as recognition of the work done at the university.
In recognition of his talent, Hammadi was presented with a UNEAC (Cuban Union of Writers and Artists) prize at the “VII Festival Internacional Percuba”. The Time Out (London) described him "Cuban percussion virtuoso".
Duo Zingara : Kokila Gillett & James Sherlock

Kokila Gillett, was a foundation scholar at the Royal College of Music studying for degree under the tutorship of Dr. Felix Andrievsky. In 2006 she was awarded a First Class in her Final Recital/Exam and gained a First Class BMus Honours from the RCM. Kokila commenced her violin studies at Junior Guildhall, where she won the 2001 Lutine Prize and between 1997 and 2002, was a scholar at the Purcell School.
Kokila has had master classes with Lewis Kaplan, Levon Chilingirian, and the LSO String Principals, reaching the semi-finals of the LSO Scholarship Competition 2002 semi-finals. In 2002 she performed Glazunov's Violin Concerto with orchestra at St.John's, Smith Square and 2004 was soloist in Brahms Double Concerto with her brother, Meherban, playing the solo-cello part on the Double Bass. In May 2006, Kokila won the Isolde Menges Prize for the best performance of Solo Bach Prize at the RCM, with her rendition of the Dminor Chaconne. More recently, in May 2007, Kokila won the Solo Bach Exhibition at the Ealing Festival. She was also awarded 1 st Prize in the Premiere Challenge Cup at the North London Festival, for her performance of Ravel's Tzigane.
In a solo capacity Kokila has performed live on Channel 4; and, at the Wigmore Hall; Purcell Room; Royal Festival Hall; St. James', Piccadilly; Winchester Cathedral; Waltham Abbey; Victoria and Albert Museum; St. Mary's, Perivale; King of Hearts, Norwich; and in India. In October 2004, alongside duo partner Pavel Timofejevsky, Kokila was filmed and recorded for the soundtrack of the TV Biographical film "Tchaikovsky".
Kokila combines a career of recital performing, leading the Skolia Symphony orchestra, freelance orchestral work and teaching and studies with pedagogue Simon Kuhn.
James Sherlock studied the piano and organ at Chetham's School of Music and Eton College, and later as an organ scholar at Winchester Cathedral and Trinity College, Cambridge. He graduated from Cambridge University in 2007 and has since been pursuing further research into music and autism whilst continuing his piano studies with Joan Havill, Senior Professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
He was a winner of 2007's BBC Fame Academy: The Next Generation as pianist and conductor, and took gold medal in the Marcello Galanti International Organ Competition in 2005. His recent CD of chamber music by David Earl on the Divine Art label won the new music "disk of the year" award in International Piano Magazine. He has performed at the festivals of Windsor,
Cambridge, Ravenna, La Verna, Olomouc, on BBC Radio 2, 3 and 4, and on cruise ships around the world.
He is delighted to be part of the Live Music Now scheme, the largest outreach group of its kind in the UK. He is also organist of St Bartholomew the Great in Smithfield, and musical director of the Figaro Opera Project.
Edward Furse & Craig White

Edward Furse and Craig White – Cello and Piano Duo
Edward and Craig were both scholars at the Royal Academy of Music, and have given over fifty performances together since meeting at the Montepulciano Music Festival in 2005. These have included recitals at the Schubert Festival, North Aldeburgh Festival, Cardiff Millennium Centre, and the duo will perform at the Leeds International Concert Series in 2009. Edward and Craig also work for Live Music Now, for whom they have undertaken tours of Oxfordshire, Staffordshire, Wales and Yorkshire in 2008.
Edward Furse – Cello
Edward was awarded a first class honours degree in music from the University of Birmingham and a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music, from which he graduated in 2005. His awards include the Barber Undergraduate Prize, Barber Postgraduate Scholarship and Concerto Prize. Edward’s performance of Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in June 2003 was reviewed by the Birmingham Post as a ‘tour de force, with yearning cello passages, fine intonation and an expressive cadenza.’ Numerous concerto appearances have followed, including performances of Elgar’s Cello Concerto in London, Birmingham, Helsinki, Budapest and St Petersburg, and Hadyn’s Cello Concerto in C at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, directing from the cello.
Co-principal cellist with the Southbank Sinfonia for 2007, Edward’s orchestral experiences include performances at the Royal Albert Hall, Symphony Hall, Royal Festival Hall, and side-by-side projects with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and Academy of St Martin’s in the Fields. Regular chamber music work has recently included recitals in Brussels and London with the Olive Piano Trio, and further performances at the Wigmore Hall, London, and in Anghiari, Tuscany.
Edward currently lives in London and plays a German cello made by August Riechers, ca. 1860.
Craig White – Piano
Craig graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 2007, where he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Piano Accompaniment. At the Academy he held the Gilling Family Scholarship and studied with Michael Dussek and Diana Ketler, also receiving the Evelyn German and Daniel Kelly prizes. Craig previously gained a music degree at St Catherine’s College, Oxford, where he held the Répétiteur Scholarship with New Chamber Opera, also performing in their professional productions, more recently for Mozart's La Finta Semplice. Craig also worked for Oxford City Opera, Garsington Education Programme and Oxford Baroque Soloists, including performances of Bach's St John's Passion, Wolf's Italiensches Liederbuch, La Boheme and The Turn of the Screw.
At Oxford, Craig made regular appearances at the Holywell Music Room including a performance with the Allegri String Quartet for their Golden Jubilee Concert. In recent years Craig has attended festivals in Oxford, Oxenfoord and Montepulciano, receiving masterclasses from Marios Papadopoulos, Malcolm Martineau and Paul Hamburger. Recent engagements have included performances at the final of The London Welsh Singer of the Year Competition, the Thelma King Award and recitals in Windsor, Bristol and Chinon, France. Craig has performed with Tangissimo, an ensemble promoting the works of Astor Piazzola, and recently formed the Olive Piano Trio, giving recitals in Brussels and London. Craig has also worked as a staff accompanist at summer schools in Ardingly, Abingdon and St Andrews. Craig also performs with the oboist James Turnbull as part of the Countess of Munster scheme.

Anne Macgregor
Anne began piano lessons at the age of six and when she was fourteen began attending the RSAMD Junior Academy where she studied with Marina Nadiradze and won both the Beethoven Prize and the Gilbert Innes Prize for Piano two years running.
Having been accepted into the RSAMD in 2005, Anne studied initially with Philip Jenkins followed by Fali Pavri. She has taken part in masterclasses with Stephen Osborne, Martino Tirimo, Malcolm Martineau, Lesley Howard, Rolf Hind and Vanessa Latarche and has won academic prizes for History, Analysis and Counterpoint, and the Sibelius Essay Prize. In performance, she has won the Bach Prize, the John Ireland Prize, 3rd prize in the RSAMD Bamber/Galloway Piano Competition and 1st prize in the Peter Lindsay Prize for Piano Duo with her duo partner Silviya Mihaylova. She graduated with a first class degree in July and is now on the Postgraduate Diploma in Performance course.
In November 2007 Anne won 1st prize at the Moray Piano Competition and as a result was invited to give a solo recital in Inverness. In PLUG 2008 she premiered ‘Black and White Romance’, a piano concerto by fellow student Claire Mackenzie. Anne enjoys chamber music and regularly accompanies other students in exams, recitals and competitions. In 2009/10, in addition to her studies, Anne took on the role of Music Apprentice at St George’s-Tron Church, which included organising and presenting Music at Midday, a series of 20 lunchtime recitals held weekly in Glasgow city centre.

As an oratorio soloist she has appeared with Ashford Choral Society, Ayr Choral Union, Bishops Stortford Choral Society, Edinburgh Symphony Baroque, Folkestone Choral Society, Glasgow Lyric Choir, Laudate, Oban Bach Choir, the Scottish Chamber Choir, St Andrew’s Chorus, Thames Voyces and Whitstable Choral Society. Future 2009 performances include Vivaldi Gloria and Britten Ceremony of Carols with Cupar Choral Society, Vaughan Williams Dona Nobis Pacem with Helensburgh Oratorio Choir and Haydn Missa Cellensis and Mozart Requiem with Glasgow Lyric Choir. Emma also sings with ensembles Canty, Cappella Nova Ludus Baroque and Scottish Voices.

Committed to bring live music into the community, Emma is also an artist for Music in Hospitals Scotland and has been an artist for Live Music Now since the start of 2009.

Silviya Mihaylova was born in Plovdiv, Bulgaria and started playing piano at age 7. At the age of 10 she won 3rd prize in the ‘Dream in seasons’ competition and a few years later she was accepted into the National School for Music and Dance art; “Dobrin Petkov” in Plovdiv, Bulgaria (NSMDA). In 2002 she won a prize for her performance of ‘Prelude’ from Vesselin Stoyanov in the National competition, Vesselin Stoyanov in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Silviya gave her first personal piano recital in Plovdiv at the age of 14 and she has continued to do so every year since.
In 2007 she graduated from the NSMDA with honours, taking both a Secondary Education Diploma and a Certificate of Professional Qualification with distinction and was awarded the Special award from NSMDA for serving many good causes and “Penka Popova” Special prize for high achievements in the academic subjects.
Silviya has been accepted into the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, winning a RSAMD Trust Entrance Scholarship and is now a student there in Prof Fali Pavri’s piano class.
She has performed in master classes with a number of famous pianists including Mikhail Rudy, Joseph Seiger, Tamara Poddubnaya, Stela Dimitrova-Maystorova, Atanas Kurtev and Milena Mollova, amongst others.
Silviya enjoys playing variety of chamber music. Between 2005 and 2007 she and her partner, the violinist Mariya Ivanova gave a series of chamber music recitals. In 2008 Silviya and her piano duo partner Anne MacGregor played for the BBC Radio 3 Pianothon Finale with Tom Poster. In December 2009 The MacGregorMihaylova Duo won Peter Lindsay Miller Prize for Piano Duo.
In November 2008 Silviya started working for the Live Music Now! Scotland scheme and regularly performs with soprano Emma Versteeg.

Finzi Quartet

First Prize Winners in the 2010 Royal Over Seas League Competition, the Finzi Quartet was formed under the guidance of Dr Christopher Rowland at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Having been selected by the Tillett Trust and the Park Lane Group, 2009/2010 saw the Quartet’s debut at both the Wigmore Hall and the Purcell Room to critical acclaim.
Winner of 2nd Prize in the 5th Trondheim International String Quartet Competition in Norway last Autumn, the Quartet is also a recipient of the 2008/2009 Tunnell Trust Award and as a result undertook a concert tour of Scotland in November last year.
The Quartet was awarded a full scholarship from the Albeniz Foundation enabling them to spend two years in the chamber music class of Gunter Pichler at the Instituto Internacional de Musica de Camera de Madrid. It has also benefited from tuition at IMS Pruissa Cove with Andras Keller, the London String Quartet Foundation with Christoph Richter and Andrew Watkinson, and masterclasses with Gabor Takacs, Thomas Riebl, Thomas Kemp, Alasdair Tait, Isabel Charisius, Valentin Erben and Heime Muller.
The Quartet is passionate about outreach work and has recently begun working with Live Music Now and the CAVATINA Chamber Music Trust giving concerts around the UK and in London.
Following their appointment as Bulldog Junior Fellows at Trinity College of Music for 2009/2010, the Quartet has been awarded a Junior Fellowship at the Royal Northern College of Music for 2010/2011.
Future projects include a recording of Sir John Tavener’s ‘Towards Silence’, a second Aldeburgh Residency as part of the Britten-Pears Academy and numerous festival engagements including the Brighton, Cambridge and Oundle Festivals.
Having a strong desire to promote the music of British composers, the Quartet feels extremely honoured that the Finzi Trust supports their use of Gerald Finzi’s name.
