Live Music Now is delighted to congratulate Ian Stoutzker, Founder Chairman, on the award of a CBE in the New Year's Honours list.
For over 35 years, Ian Stoutzker's leadership of LMN has been a moving force behind the growing recognition of music's positive impact on people's lives, particularly those in need, whilst supporting the burgeoning careers of the best of this country's young musicians. Since 1977, LMN has given over 40,000 workshops and interactive performances to more than 3,000,000 disadvantaged members of society who would have been excluded from the joy and inspiration of participating in live performance.

Great music, great young musicians: Check out the latest in the ‘Sound Check’ series at Usher Hall

The season continues in the groundbreaking Emerging Artists: Sound Check series featuring the best of Scotland's young graduates and new professional talent performing live at the Usher Hall.
In partnership with Live Music Now, a charity set up by Yehudi Menuhin in 1977, this makes high quality live music accessible whilst supporting young musicians at the outset of their careers.

LMN Musician Will Pound nominated for BBC Radio 2 Folk award

Congratulations to LMN's Will Pound for his nomination as Musician of the Year in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Will and his duo partner Dan Walsh (banjo) are hugely popular in LMN's venues, playing for children with special needs, older people and for patients in hospitals.

Short film and interview with LMN musician Tomoko Kinuta

Japanese flute player and LMN musician Tomoko Kinuta performed at the National Museum of Scotland last month as part of the Free Fringe Music event held in conjunction with Live Music Now Scotland. The Sounds Global Project spoke with Miss Kinuta after her performance to discuss her introduction to music, her favourite instruments, and just how much music means to her.

Live Music Now & Kings Place Festival 2011

Evaluating the impact of LMN in care homes for older people

Between September 2009 and December 2010 a total of 22 Runwood Residential and Day Care establishments for Older People in Essex provided the venues for a series of 'Live Music Concerts' funded by a grant from Essex County Council.
An evaluation was commissioned to evidence the difference that this programme of concerts made to the quality of life of the Runwood residents, and whether the concerts also provided opportunities for Staff to view the residents differently.
