Launch of the aLuMNi Fund

The aLuMNi Fund was launched at a sell-out concert on 22 February 2010 at the Forge. The evening was an aLuMNi initiative thanks to Kosmos and Milos Milivojevic as well as The Forge: Adam and Charlotte Caird's exciting new venue in Camden www.forgevenue.org
The purpose of this fund is to enable musicians who have benefited from their time with LMN to support the continuation of our work and extend the benefits to the next generation entering the profession.

LMN Ireland Recruiting Musicians - Open Day

'Sherlock Violin' Project

Live Music Now Scotland is launching a project for children at Edinburgh's Dunedin School with a free concert featuring the 'Sherlock Violin' at the National Gallery on Thursday, 17 December 2009. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Holmes' creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as well as the formation of the National Galleries of Scotland. The 'Sherlock Violin' was made by Steve Burnett from the wood of a diseased sycamore tree in the garden of Liberton Bank House where Conan Doyle grew up, now home to the Dunedin School for secondary school children who don't fit into... Vulnerable Young People Future Winners of Research Support

Live Music Now is one of 13 organisations awarded funds from the Big Lottery Fund (BIG), sharing more than £5.5 million in grants to support new research projects which will benefit vulnerable young people.
The money comes from BIG's Research programme, set up to fund medical and social research projects across the UK.
Live Music Now SW has been awarded £361,121 for a three-year research project, which will explore whether music could be used in the youth justice system to reduce re-offending and improve the health of young offenders. Music is already used in many other health areas as a... [read more]

 
Older People Benefit from Largest Ever Music Day
Friday 25th September 2009

Nearly 2,500 older people are to enjoy and be uplifted by live music performances from Live Music Now (LMN) to help make Older People's Day on 1 October extra-special for them.
LMN is fielding 63 of the best-available young musicians to take part in more than 50 performances throughout the UK, in an initiative that helps to bring younger and older generations together. Performances will take place at care homes, day centres, hospitals and hospices throughout the week of 28 September 2009.

Adopt-a-Musician for Older People

Distinguished charities Live Music Now (LMN) and Musicians Benevolent Fund are working together to enhance the lives of musicians - both young and old - with an appeal to the public to Adopt-a-Musician.
The scheme will contribute to the Government's Older People's Day 'Full of Life' initiative on 1 October 2009 and will lead into celebrations of St. Cecilia's Day (Patron Saint of Music) on 18th November 2009.

Young people from Birmingham perform with professional musicians.

A group of looked after young people from across the Birmingham area showcased their musical talents and enjoyed the rare opportunity to perform with professional musicians in a special one-off event on Saturday 18 July 2009.
The performance at Firs Brook Centre in Quinton was the culmination of a three-month long project organised by Live Music Now in association with LACES (Looked After Children Education Service).

Live Music Now Scotland Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Live Music Now Scotland celebrates its 25th anniversary this year with a range of special events taking place during the anniversary month of August. Over the years, classical and traditional musicians working on behalf of the organisation have performed live music in a variety of venues throughout Scotland from community halls, residential homes and hospices to prisons and special schools. Runwood Homes, Live Music Now London and Essex County Council announce a new partnership.

Runwood Homes and Live Music Now London are delighted to announce a new partnership which is being funded by Essex County Council. The project is entitled 'Meaningful Moments in Essex' and will provide 8 visits by LMN musicians to each of the 22 Runwood Homes for older people in Essex within a year, culminating in a celebration concert.

LMN and Bank of America partnership shortlisted for Charity Times Award

Live Music Now and Bank of America have been shortlisted to win a Charity Times Award in the Corporate National Partnership of the year category.
