Live Music Now North East is the most recently established branch of the charity. Set up in 2004, it covers Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Co Durham and Tees Valley, and has built up a strong reputation for delivering high quality concerts in a range of community venues. In 2007/08 the branch organised 203 concerts and workshops, reaching approximately 6,300 people. These included projects set up in partnership with many organisations including local authorities, NHS Trusts, school music services, music festivals and other voluntary and community groups.

A key priority for the branch is to work regularly with around 65 special schools across the region, delivering a variety of concerts and workshops which offer new experiences to children and young people. The branch is also currently delivering a major 3 year programme of concerts for older people, adults with learning disabilities and people with mental health problems, supported by the Northern Rock Foundation. Recently we have recruited our first North East based musicians on to the LMN scheme, all of whom are traditional and folk musicians with links to the folk and traditional music degree at Newcastle University. We are developing training and performance opportunities for these musicians, offering important support at the start of their professional careers.
