LMN England: South West
LMN England: South West reaches from Gloucestershire to Cornwall and the Scilly Isles, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands.
Over the years, much of LMN's expertise in the justice system has stemmed from pilot projects initiated in the South West, where our experience has shown that strengthening the innerperson, by developing a person's soft skills, (confidence, communication, social), can be the most important contribution to the rehabilitation of offenders.
Currently, three major projects are taking place in the South West:
Music Place, funded by the Big Lottery. In partnership with researchers from the University of Western England, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, specializing in Offender Health. This project, taking place in 3 different justice settings, will research the long term effects of music intervention, and its power to turn young people away from criminal activity. The research team will also feed into the work of the Public Engagement Foundation which has received funding from DCMS to research the impact of 'arts in health' projects.
Quality of Life, funded by the European Commission. The Quality of Life project aims to look at new ways of using music to improve the lives of those with dementia.
SOME - Soul of Music Energy, funded by the European Commission focuses on adult learners, individually or small groups, young or senior voluntary, from European countries, interested to enrich their knowledge, language and social abilities in order to get a new European dimension.
