The Welsh branch was set up in 1990 and since then well over 4000 performances have taken place throughout Wales. In addition to taking performances to residential homes and day centres for elderly people, schools and special schools, performing each year for thousands of people who have limited access to live music we also work extensively with mainstream venues and festivals. Musicians from Wales and visiting musicians may find themselves performing in St David's Hall, Cardiff then going on give a concert for people who may never visit such a prestigious venue. In north Wales our musicians frequently give a concert for children in Galeri, Caernarfon followed by a concert for elderly people as part of the 'Tonic' series. Most of our work in west Wales is in association with Arts Care. New projects in 2008 have included performances as part of the 'Gwanwyn' Festival, a new venture to encourage elderly people to participate in the arts and outreach projects with the Gregynog Festival. We are associated with most of the major Welsh festivals and can work in both Welsh and English - visit us at the National Eisteddfod each year where we share a stand with Ty Cerdd/Music Centre Wales. Future plans include more concerts in hospitals in association with 'Healthy Sounds'.
