LMN England: North East, Yorkshire and East Midlands

LMN England: North East, Yorkshire and East Midlands covers some of the most rural and sparsely populated areas of the country, as well as the large towns and cities in Tyne & Wear, West Yorkshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire.

The branch is committed to providing our partners and beneficiary groups with a diverse range of musical styles, instruments and opportunities, from African Drumming in the Yorkshire Dales to Classical Harpists in Middlesborough and Scottish Folk Musicians in Lincoln to Jazz Trios in Worksop.

The branch delivers around 600 interactive performances and workshops each year, and many of these are in partnership with other agencies. Regular partnership programmes include:

  • Performances in mental health settings with The Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys NHS Trust;
  • Concerts in Age UK day centres in Calderdale and Sheffield;
  • Workshops for children with special educational needs in North Yorkshire with NYMAZ, North Yorkshire's Youth Music Action Zone;
  • Performances in County Durham special schools with The Durham Brass Festival.

Future plans include the development of residency projects in both special schools and venues for older people. Pilot projects in South Yorkshire and Durham have proved very successful, and we aim to replicate these projects across our region.
