Norma Sinte joins the Live Music Now Board of Trustees for LMN Northern Ireland
Monday 29th June 2020
Norma Sinte joined the Board of Live Music Now in June 2020 following the retirement of Lady Sandra Fell and she also takes over Lady Fell’s position as Chair of the Northern Ireland Committee.
Norma retired last year from Queen’s University Belfast where she was Director of Development and Alumni Relations. She joined Queen’s in 2000 as Head of Corporate and Major Gifts Fundraising and was appointed to the post of Director in 2008. During her time there she led two major fundraising campaigns, raising over £160m from philanthropic sources for priority projects. In her role at Queen’s she also managed two senior voluntary Boards: The Queen’s Foundation and the Friends of Queen’s USA.
A graduate of Queen’s, she has over 30 years’ experience in sales and marketing management in the private sector both in the UK and overseas. She also worked in the arts sector in Northern Ireland as Marketing and Sponsorship Manager with the Ulster Orchestra.
She is also a Trustee of Belfast Charitable Society, the City’s first charitable organisation founded in 1752 and Chair of the Mary Ann McCracken Foundation, established by the Society to celebrate Mary Ann’s life and to build on her legacy today.
'I am delighted to join the Board of Live Music Now and admire very much the twin approach of the organisation: supporting young professional musicians at an early stage in their careers and bringing music to care homes, special schools and isolated communities. Music can and does transform lives and has a profound impact on health and wellbeing. Music is part of my life and I have recently taken up piano again after many years, even working towards exams again to give myself a focus.
I am succeeding a longstanding and excellent Trustee, Lady Sandra Fell, and hope to be able to contribute as much to Live Music Now as Sandra did over her many years of service.'
