Opening Doors in East Yorkshire with Live Music Now

Tuesday 11th May 2021

The next three years will see a challenging period of recovery for everyone but especially for those who are not easily able to connect with others – whether that is because they live alone or in challenging circumstances, or with disability of some kind.

The North East branch of Live Music Now is in receipt of a three year grant from East Riding of Yorkshire Council Arts Development Fund to support ‘Opening Doors in East Yorkshire’, a three year project designed to support the local community to thrive and support healthy and fulfilling lives as well as offering support to the vulnerable and isolated.

Building around the positive work delivered in previous years - the popular ‘Songs and Scones’ events for older people and interactive sessions for service users at local day care centres - Live Music Now will reconnect with previous participants and extend the offer to other care and wellbeing settings. In building a three year programme, LMN North East will be able to build better, stronger partnerships – allowing us more time and opportunity to consult with participants and respond to their needs.

Live music offers real benefits to how people feel part of and connected to their community. Participating and delivering interactive music sessions provides positive social experiences as well as creative engagement, fun and a sense of achievement.
