Live Music Now provides music sessions for thousands of older people every year, including those living with dementia, and their carers. During the Covid19 lockdown, LMN’s musicians and staff have worked quickly to produce a new online service, which is being accessed by care homes all around the UK. Below you’ll find a selection of our recent videos. Please see our Guidance Notes for Care Homes for tips on how to engage your care home residents with pre-recorded Live Music Now performances.

Elly Hopkins and Stuart Oliver are the Hopkins Oliver Duo. In this special concert for older people, they perform their own interpretations of early jazz standards, including: Sunny Side of the Street, Sweet Sue, Honeysuckle Rose, Shine on Harvest Moon, I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire, I'm Beginning to See the Light. Welsh Viola player Lowri Thomas performs a specially curated programme of classical, folk and musical theatre pieces for Care Homes to enjoy. Normally found performing as a duo with her sister in 'String Sisters' or with 'Vesta Trio', a Viola, Flute and Harp trio with Live Music Now, Lowri has recorded this rare solo concert as part of Live Music Now's 'At Home' series of lockdown concerts.

Devon-based folk musician Louis Bingham performs traditional music from England, Scotland and Ireland on the guitar and cittern. Set list: 1. Si Bheag Si Mhór (composer Turlough O'Carolan) 2. Siân Dicker (soprano) and Daria Bitsuik (piano) are the Storia Duo. In this video for older people, they present an interactive concert of songs, pieces for reflection and well known tunes including ‘We’ll Gather Lilacs’ and ‘Danny Boy’. Download the song sheet here!

Welsh percussionists Iolo Edwards and Luke Baxter make up half of the group Quartet19, a young, dedicated and highly versatile percussion ensemble. They perform vibraphone, congas, djembe and marimba in their performances in this specially recorded concert for care homes.

Join Welsh pianist Joseph Cavalli-Price for a collection of singalong classics from the world of film and musical theatre, alongside traditional Welsh tunes. Neath born Joseph is the accompanist of Only Boys Aloud, Only Kids Aloud, Cor Caerdydd, Cardiff Arms Park Male Voice Choir, ReChoir and the Welsh Musical Theatre Orchestra. Beth Williams Jones & Sam Humphreys (Calan) Musicians Beth Williams Jones and Sam Humphreys of Welsh folk group Calan, perform a selection of traditional Welsh and original folk songs on vocals, accordion and acoustic guitar especially for older people at home, Care Homes and those living with dementia.

Walk with us on a musical journey along the River Lagan, Belfast, for three minutes of contemplative calm. We’ll hear the music of nature itself, with birdsong and the river running over stones, alongside the haunting strains of ‘My Lagan Love’ played by Conor Lamb on uilleann pipes and Deirdre Galway on piano. This beautiful little film evokes the freshness and tranquility of nature at a time when many of us are missing the balm of sunshine and fresh air.
