Darcy Beck

Darcy is a percussionist from Gloucestershire. She specialises in tuned percussion, particularly the marimba, but also enjoys playing a whole variety of other percussion instruments. She aims to demonstrate the versatility of percussion, whether it be a mellow marimba arrangement of a familiar tune or an energetic timbales work which employs all parts of the instruments and sticks. Darcy’s performances are often very visual. While at university, she has taken an interest in jazz music and now uses improvisation on both tuned and non-tuned instruments. Darcy recently performed her first concerto as a result of winning Gloucestershire Young Musician of the Year 2020. Outside of the music world, Darcy enjoys practicing speaking Chinese with friends, often over a homemade Chinese hotpot.
