Comprising Mary-Jannet Leith (recorders) and Thomas Allery (harpsichord), Duo Hesperi is a duo with a passion for the music of eighteenth-century Scotland, where Mary-Jannet grew up.
Expect a musical journey to the Highlands, with charming soaring melodies in the Baroque style, fused with rhythms and styles inspired by Scottish dance. The duo celebrates the rarely performed music of Scottish composers and musicians, including James Oswald, who wrote a collection called “Airs for the Seasons”, each describing a different flower or plant through music.
Mary-Jannet and Tom also enjoy playing as a larger ensemble, with whom they have recently recorded their first CD, “Full of the Highland Humours”.
