Bio

Angharad and Lowri Thomas are two siblings that make up the violin and viola duo, String Sisters. Born and raised in Alltwen, Angharad and Lowri have been playing together for over ten years and as String Sisters, they combine their artistic talents with a passion for outreach, inspiring audiences and encouraging live music across the country. Angharad and Lowri both studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and went on to study at the Royal College of Music.

As individuals they have worked with orchestras such as the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Welsh National Opera. String Sisters have also performed in TV shows including Britain’s Got Talent, The Voice, X Factor and Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. String Sisters successfully auditioned for Live Music Now in 2018 and have been generously supported in their musical careers by the Irene Hanson Award, Arts Council Wales, Denne Gilkes Memorial Prize, Help Musicians UK, Royal Society of Musicians, James Pantyfedwen Foundation, Kathleen Trust Scholarship, Ryan Davies Memorial Trust and Craxton Memorial Trust. In their spare time Angharad and Lowri enjoy spending time with their other siblings as they are two of five!
