Count Me In! is based on the Sounds of Intent framework which identifies six potential levels of engagement with music. In Count Me In! we focus on four levels:
Sound Makers
Sound Makers will experience music in a sensory way, and are developing their capacity to engage with sound.
Pattern Makers
Pattern Makers are able to recognize simple patterns in sound such as a steady beat.
Motif Makers
Motif Makers can recognize and create “building blocks” of music: rhythmic groups of notes or short bursts of melody (e.g. riffs, hooks or jingles).
Music Makers
Music Makers understand songs and short pieces of music and show a developing ability to play or sing in time and in tune.
