Join us for six one-hour music workshops starting Friday 17 October 2025 and finishing Friday 21 November 2025. Live Music Now will support participants to professionally record their song, with the community’s voices singing proudly and aloud. Then we’ll celebrate together, inviting the people of Taibach to hear the final song.

What Once Stood: Dyffryn in Song! is a collaborative music project offering community members the opportunity to work with professional musicians over an eight-week period, to create a unique song for the people of Taibach, South Wales. The project will celebrate the legacy of Lower Dyffryn School and look ahead to the opportunities that the new housing development, managed by Linc Cymru, will bring.

Dyffryn in Song! aims to foster community pride and cohesion by bringing together people of all ages to share memories, milestones, and their hopes for the future. Through inclusive, accessible and creative sessions, participants will build confidence, develop new skills and strengthen their connection to the area’s shared heritage.
Workshops will take place every Friday morning between 10.30am-11.30am. Together, the residents of Taibach will collectively write a new community anthem, celebrating the area’s past while imagining its future.

Guitar player and violist Aneirin Jones and grand harpist Bethan Semmens will work alongside residents to explore the history and cultural heritage of Lower Dyffryn School, capturing the intangible memories of what once stood. The song will be professionally recorded and premiered at a celebratory sharing event later this year.

In keeping with Linc Cymru’s commitment to sustainability, Dyffryn in Song! will be delivered using low-carbon, sustainably minded working practices, ensuring the project leaves a positive and lasting legacy for the community.
The project is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and commissioned by Linc Cymru, the Housing Association and Care Provider who are developing the Lower Dyffryn School site.
