Live Music Now is partnering with Team Lotus, the specialist perinatal mental health maternity team at Medway NHS Foundation Trust, pilot a Lullaby programme for pregnant women and new mothers who have experienced suicidal thoughts or a previous suicide attempt. Working with professional musicians, participants will co-write, record and perform a personal lullaby for their child — supported at every session by a specialist mental health support worker.
Suicide is the leading cause of death among new mothers in the first year after birth. The project is funded by the Kent & Medway Better Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Fund and builds on a successful pilot with Team Lotus in 2024–25, which engaged 24 women across Medway with positive results. This new pilot cohort specifically targets those at highest clinical risk.
