Rohan Armstrong (Guitar, Double Bass & Vocals) and Anna Nolan (Vocals, Guitar) have been collaborating for over 14 years traversing many different styles of music including Jazz, Gospel, Soul, Folk and Roots music.
They have two original projects: The Fuchsia Realm (Acousitic folk songs of friendship, love and loss) contrasting with Velvet Alibi an energetic 12 piece Groove Ensemble with an emphasis on vocal harmony, virtuosic playing and improvisation. The couple have also worked closely together for over a decade within the acclaimed Inishowen Gospel Choir with Rohan as band leader and Anna as conductor and co-musical director.
As a vocalist Anna’s musical influences would range from the power and soul of Aretha Franklin, the mastery of Anita O’Day to the laid back story telling of Gillian Welch’s Americana. As a sought after session Double Bassist Rohan’s influences would come from Jazz greats such as Paul Chambers and Ron Carter. Together Anna and Rohan offer a mixed repertoire of their own songs and unique arrangements of other Jazz, Folk and Soul classics.
