Bio

The Kyan Quartet brings together four friends from the United Kingdom, United States, China and France. As upcoming Tunnell Trust award winners, the quartet are looking forward to going on tour across Scotland in 2025. They have held residencies with the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme and the European String Teachers Association.

Widening musical participation is central to the quartet’s artistic mission and they are excited to coach chamber ensembles at the Junior Royal Academy of Music and Poole Society for Young Musicians. As the 2022/23 fellows of the Open Academy/Wigmore Hall Learning Programme, they appeared regularly on the Wigmore Hall stage and in community settings, sharing music with families, young children, and those living with dementia.

The Kyan Quartet enjoy playing classical, contemporary and folk music and finding exciting narratives in it. Enjoying board games in their free time, they like playing games with the music and getting the audience in on the fun too.

‘The classical music was so beautiful. Residents really loved having such young talent in the home.’ – Southgate Beaumont Care Home
