Michael Blanchfield is a pianist, arranger, musical director and collaborator from Hertfordshire with an ever-growing passion for jazz music. Since graduating from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2019, he has become an integral member of the Cardiff and South Wales music scenes, playing both solo and in groups across genres from disco to pop to contemporary classical.
Playing across genres, Michael manages to whole-heartedly embrace the particular energies of the music he plays, whilst retaining his own unique musical signature and character. This is clear in his solo piano arrangements, in which he brings together influences from his eclectic musical background and the rich history of jazz music: from folk, rag-time, blues and swing to be-bop, funk and jazz fusion.
