A Choir in Every Care Home is an exciting new initiative to explore how singing could feature regularly in care homes across the country. Please help us to achieve this vision!
We have created two surveys: to gather views about music in care homes and examples of good practice. This is a really important part of the project.
The first survey is for anyone working within a care home (or similar), including senior staff and activity co-ordinators, whether or not you have any involvement with music. Is music in care homes a good idea? What are the main barriers to doing more of it? Please click here to take this survey.
The second survey is for those who lead singing for older people in care, or who manage such singing leaders. What works best, and is there potential to do more? Please click here to take this survey.
We appreciate that time is very valuable, so any information in response to the questions would be very much appreciated. The whole survey should take 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and you’re welcome to skip questions.
All complete surveys will be entered into a prize draw. For the care homes, you can win a free LMN music session, anywhere in the UK. And for practitioners, you can win £100 of Amazon vouchers. This will be drawn at noon on the 6th November.
Funded and initiated by the Baring Foundation, this initiative is a unique collaboration between 30 leading national organisations from the worlds of adult social care, music and healthcare research. It is being led by three major organisations in the field: Live Music Now, which provides national leadership for musicians working in the care sector; Sound Sense, the UK professional association for community music; and the Sidney De Haan Research Centre, providing cutting edge research on the medical and social impacts of singing. The project will take place between May 2015 and April 2016 at which point a report will be completed with recommendations for next steps.
Thank you so much for your help!
