Live Music Now announces new Executive Director

Live Music Now is pleased to announce the appointment of Evan Dawson as Executive Director.

Founder-Chairman Ian Stoutzker said, 'On behalf of the Board and the staff, I'm delighted to welcome Evan Dawson as Live Music Now's new Executive Director. His experience, knowledge and enthusiasm will help us to consolidate our past successes and lead our future development.'

Evan has been working in a range of leadership roles in the arts sector since 2004. He has led national projects to create new community choirs in areas of deprivation, supported young composers and soloists, and worked with television and radio to celebrate the diversity and quality of British music-making. Prior to joining LMN, Evan was Head of Development at Making Music, where he led their 'music and wellbeing' strategy, and a range of initiatives to support young artists, composers and music groups in the community, including the influential Adopt a Composer scheme. Prior to working in the arts, Evan was a solicitor with the firm Mishcon de Reya.

Evan Dawson wrote, 'I'm thrilled to be leading such a dedicated, friendly and inspiring team, doing hugely important work. In my career I have seen musical experiences transform people's lives and communities, and no organisation does this more widely, or to such a high standard, as Live Music Now.'

Evan has an MA in Arts Management at City University, and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He is a National Advisor to Arts Council Wales. He also plays the saxophone in a jazz quintet, and has written music for television, including the string quartet theme for BBC4's Only Connect.
