Mavron String Quartet are appointed 'Ensemble in Residence' at St David’s Hall, Cardiff

Cllr. Nigel Howells of Cardiff County Council formally announced on Tuesday 9th March that the Mavron Quartet was to be the 'Ensemble in Residence' at St David's Hall, the National Concert Hall of Wales.

LMN Wales has enjoyed a long partnership with St David's Hall and scores of our musicians have performed at lunchtime concerts at the Hall over the last 20 years and at the Welsh Proms. The internationally acclaimed pianist Llyr Williams gave his first recital at St David's Hall under the auspices of Live Music Now and continues to play there on a regular basis.

Following the announcement the Mavron Quartet's recital included works by Haydn, Schubert and Schnittke, playing a Welsh Lullaby as their encore.

This residency is part of the Hall's commitment of nurturing and promoting Wales based artists. The Mavron Quartet, Lunar Saxophone Quartet, Ginge & Celloboi, Smith Gilligan Duo and Jamie Smith will all be performing at the 2010 Welsh Proms.
