Composing with Care – with Paisley 2021

Live Music Now Scotland was delighted to receive funding from Paisley 2021, a campaign building support for Paisley’s bid for City of Culture 2021. We gathered together some of our musicians who hail from Paisley in Renfrewshire, West Scotland – flautist Yvonne Robertson and classical guitarist Ross Wilson (pictured above with a visitor to Falcon Day Centre in Paisley), world folk trio Granny Green, and accordionist Grant McFarlane performing with fiddler Ron Jappy – and invited them to perform in care homes around Paisley throughout October and November. Their visits are part of our ongoing ‘Composing with Care’ project, this time focusing on the historic Paisley Thread Mills. We will be working with four older people’s venues – Falcon Day Centre, Montrose Care Home,  Elderslie Care Home and Hunterhill Care Home –  to gather stories about the Mills which will then be used by composer Savourna Stevenson to create a new piece of music.

We look forward to keeping you updated as the project develops, and best of luck with the bid, Paisley!
